Press Kit Cover Letter
[our return address, no name]
[phone number] (email address?)
[date]
[their address]
Dear Mr. or Ms. Whoever:
I represent Pavilion, an independent group dedicated to changing public
perception about plurality -- people with multiple personalities.
Plurality is neither a mental disorder nor a dangerous aberration. It is a
quite real and ordinary lifestyle. Plurals have been living quietly alongside
their neighbors for centuries, all over the world. We are plumbers, taxi
drivers, students, lawyers. We're everywhere.
We're acting in our own behalf -- countering media stereotypes and psychiatric
misinformation.
Enclosed you will find a package of information about Pavilion. I hope it will
promote your understanding of our goals.
Pavilion spokespersons will be scheduling radio interviews. If the enclosed
material interests you, and you would like to schedule an interview, or if you
have any questions about Pavilion, please do not hesitate to contact me at the
above address.
I will be contacting you next week to follow up on this letter.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
your name here.
If you are using a name other than the birth name to send these out, don't forget to leave a card in your mailbox so the post office knows to deliver mail addressed to that name: don't forget to inform those who pick up your mail that you're expecting mail addressed to that name. If you are not out to them, tell them you wrote a story and you're using alternate names. Writers can always get away with this. H.P. Lovecraft had a dozen and he was a thoroughgoing singlet.
